If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

That will buff out.   ::)

If I'm not mistaken did this happen some time ago..., or am I confusing this with someone else's car? Maybe a brief description for those who don't know.

In any case it good to see that the crash was survived as it looks horrible. Crashes like that are no fun. I was out on a "first date" and within 5 minutes had this (picture below) occur. That is her side of the car the roof collapsed on. Regardless my date must have been impressed. She has been married to me for 37 years.

June 8th. D-Day. Not our first date but first time she had ever ridden in the Pinto. I had just installed the new engine and was still getting it tuned. I had been driving and tuning on it all day.

Kathy was semi-conscious. A tree branch came through the window at some point. She had a shoulder injury, 9 stitches to her neck and 3 next to her left eye. lt could have been wayyyyyy worse!! When we first started dating she didn't wear her seat belt in her car. l told her whenever she rode with me she had to have a seat belt on. The pintoracer had racing seats and harnesses. Had she not had a seat belt on, no doubt she would not have survived it. She always wears her seat belt now.

Wow!  It's hard to see your gorgeous little Pinto in that condition!  Fortunately, you, Kathy, and apparently your relationship all survived!  I wrecked my original '74 Pinto Runabout while out on a date in 1975 - lots of damage but the insurance company decided it was repairable so it was not a total loss.  Strange as it may seem, the experience of surviving that accident bonded Sherry and me together for a long time in a way probably nothing else would have.  Ultimately, we went our separate ways but I never climb behind the wheel of a Pinto without at least a fleeting thought of her.  I'm hoping for an invitation to see that Cruising Wagon up close and personal when you've got it all done (hint, hint).  I know how great the Pintoracer looked so am anxious to see what you do with a Cruising Wagon!

It is like we could have a whole section dedicate to "Pinto - Near Death Experiences." But the reality of those who were genuinely injured in Pinto rear end accidents kind of takes the humor out of that.

BTW, in my accident mentioned above, my date/eventual wife was endlessly pursued by the insurance company to take "something" even though she stated she was not injured. She was concern to do so would have affected my insurance cost.  In the end they BEGGED her to take $75.

I really don't know, the v8 had been in it for 8 years and it never acted goofy like this time. l haven't taken the rear apart but l'm thinking something broke in it. The last time l was at the dragstrip the locker kicked out and had not worked since. Never made any noise so l wasn't that concerned about it.
