Summer's coming and so is the heat
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:55:53 AM »
A little heads up if you're in the same situation as me. The radiator in my wagon is original and seen far better days. It developed a pinhole leak, so I started checking out my options. Repair is out of the question as it is just too far gone. My radiator shop can't find find an available core, so re-coring is out of the question. New is my last option, but it appears even they are being phased out. While I can adapt something, I would rather stay with the original design if possible. I checked Rockauto and found they have the Spectra CU426 (heavy duty cooling/AC) on closeout at $175. There are 2 left currently, so anyone in the same boat as me should consider pulling the trigger while they are still available. I have one coming and will report back on the quality of the radiator.

I got the order with RA cancelled and one from AZ on the way. I've saved enough money to buy almost half the new carpet :)
Thanks again!

Well, it's going to take a few more days to see how this radiator works out. Exceptionally crappy packaging ensured it showed up with a nice hole in the box where the upper hose neck used to be. Radiator #2 should be in Saturday.... keep your fingers crossed.......

Got the replacement today and installed it. Should make summer driving better as this is HD for a/c cars and mine was the narrow non-A/C radiator.  Time for new carpet damn it......
