So I took out the carpet and found wool type of soundproofing. I am putting back dynomat on all metal surfaces. Does the wool have any real value? Should I put it back over the dynomat?
-
I would. Your carpet will fit nicer and the wool substance will still add some sound deadening and thermal barrier qualities.
-
The jute holds water. I'm going with a thick heat barrier under the carpet myself.
I'm putting this down 1st

Then the carpet. I have 3 cars to do, hence the big rolls. Smaller ones are available.
-
Wow that looks like great stuff. I would most definitely use that over the old jute layer.

You can get this stuff at Home Dump or Lowes way cheaper, I just put this stuff in my shop behind the insulation.
-
I'll look for it. Luckily I didn't buy any yet
-
Well, it sure looks like the stuff I got scraps laying around I could take a close up pic of it.

Is this the stuff you get at Lowe's and building supply places??, I hear it works good as long as it's cold out but when it gets above 60* or so you get an asphalt smell in the car, I was going to try it until I heard about that??..
-
LIVE IN FL AND HAVENT HAD THAT SMELL YET!
AND ITS PRETTY HOT HERE!!!
-
Good to know, it gets up to 115 here quite often I'd hate to have that smell in a car.
-
The dynamat has aluminum on both faces, the building material does not.
