Show me where your speakers are!!!
« on: March 18, 2014, 09:20:55 AM »
There is a lack of pictures showing where people choose to install their speakers! I need ideas for a system I'm about to purchase, so tell me and show me!

It's a wagon, but would work for a hatchback also I would think!

Dave did these before I got the car, but I think it works great!

I haven't done any of my installs yet so no pics but I have always been a fan of hiding or disguising stereo equipment. With a wagon that's tough but it's impossible with a hatchback.

On my 80 hatch the amps will go under the front seats, a pair of 3" highs will get mounted in the stock dash speaker hole & some 6" mids will go behind the stock door speaker grilles. There's a set of holes & grilles at the rear that take a 4 or 4 1/2" speaker so I'll use that location as well. I don't want to hack up the nearly pristine interior of this car for speakers so I'm using every available stock hole I can find.

I didn't want a big sub box & I want to keep the spare tire so I dug up these 8" Bazooka subs. A blue one for the 80, 2 white ones for my wagon & a purple one for my half hatch. I've used tubes before & they offer great sound for the money.

Those are cool for sure. Just need to be sure to open the right bottle, when the time comes.

I even went so far as to get a replacement NOS label since the SAS label is kinda lame. Still need to dig up some NX labels for the white ones & a Zex label. The purple one is way cool.

The bottle brackets are kinda lame as well being black steel & plastic so I'm going to see if my buddy can machine me some billet brackets to send out & get polished. If it has to be in plain view I may as well bling it up.

I wish I had 2 of them but it took me almost 2 years to find one. I got a killer deal on the pair of white ones that was too good to pass up. They stopped making these but the blue are still available.

I would except I think the white ones are more rare than purple. I've never seen another white one for sale & they were never even listed on Bazooka's website. My guess is NX filed a license claim & very few made it out of the factory before the line was pulled. My 2 sat in a corner of a closed speed shop for years before the guy that bought the store contents sold them to me. I think they escaped a recall because the shop closed & nobody sent them back.

I've never found out for sure that's just rumor & speculation from a few stereo retailers I contacted in my search. They never got any in white to sell. I just think it's a great way to put a sub in plain sight that you don't have to conceal in a false floor or try to dress up with carpet & neon lights.
