Seat swap question
« on: June 23, 2014, 04:45:29 PM »
I have the opportunity to purchase seats and some other interior parts from a 93 mustang convertible.  I'm confident the front seats will work but I'm curious if the Back seat could be made to work.  Convertible seats are substantially narrower than coupe seats and it seems to be very similar in shape to a pinto seat.  I haven't taken any measurements yet but I feel like it might be possible.

Has anybody done this or does anyone have any insight that might be helpful fitting 93 mustang convertible seats to a 78 Pinto hatchback?
Bought a 1978 hatchback to be my first car.

So, you have a hatchback with folding rear seats. And the Mustang convertible seats I assume do not???  If they do then use a tape measure and observe how the mount functions. Anything is a possibility. I once use the rear seats from a Datsun 2+2 280Z in the back of my Datsun 510.  For the 6 months it was my daily driver the kiddies had to sit somewhere.

the mustang seats are in two pieces instead of three like the pinto seat and I had thought about seeing if the back of the mustang seat would attach to the hinged metal back of the pinto seat to keep the option of folding it down, but I think the mustang backrest may be taller than the pinto and cause issues folding.  I guess I'm not sure about anything lol, I just saw them sitting in a guys garage and he offered to sell them.  :-\
