Searching for an old friend
« on: April 02, 2014, 04:31:59 PM »
Pardon me if I've posted in the wrong spot.  Didn't know where else to turn.

I bought my second Pinto in 1972 in Fairborn, Ohio, while stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB.  Regrettably, I did a very foolish thing and traded it in for a POC 1977 Econoline Van (what was I thinking?!?)  I would like to see if anyone now owns that particular Pinto.  Here are the particulars"  1972 Ford Pinto Runabout, Medium Brown Metallic, 2000cc w/4-spd, manual front disc brakes, manually operated sun roof, and luxury décor group.  The changes I made were to add 5 spoke alum alloy wheels with wider tires.  The headlight trim reliefs where painted black, as were the taillight bezels.  The hood had two chrome hood latch pins with retainer ring pins.  I also mounted two yellow fog lamps in front of the grille, which was also painted black.  I still have the window sticker that listed the options, costs, and the VIN, which was 2T11X309311.  The dealer was Skyland Motors Inc., 701 N. Broad St., Fairborn, OH45324, which by 1977 became Bob Tatone Ford.  I would like to know if anyone in this club bought that Pinto and if they still have it.  Just intensely curious, that's all.  The base price was $2078.00, with options listed above and transportation charges, the total came to $2476.11.  My first new car was a 1971 Pinto, same color and options sans the sun roof, with AC, which really sucked power from the 4 cyl.  So I traded it in for the '72 with the sun roof.   It was a fantastic vehicle.  I do have some pics before and after the personal touches.  One time on I-70 West in Ohio I had it at 110 mph, racing an Opal GT.  I shutter just thinking about that.  Thanks for reading and responding.
