just an FYI to all. I received and email about my Pinto 4sale on this this forum. this the OK i'll pay your price, i'll send you a check and i'll arrange pick up scam. I know it's this forum because this is the only site I have it listed. Really surprising to me. So...heads up folks!

Unfortunately, this pops up from time to time.  Unless the person offered you a forum username, it was unlikely to be a true member.  If they did, let me know and I will ban the user and remove their account.  Memberships are approved automatically so we have no real way of knowing anyone's intent until they do something.  99.9% of the time they are okay - if they are spammers or scammers, they soon reveal their true colors and are dealt with swiftly.  The best advice I can offer anyone here is: use your head... if it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't!  Thanks for the heads up; it never hurts to remind the membership that not everyone out there in this big old world is honest.

It's an old and rather obvious scam that preys on over-anxious sellers.  Take your time, think it through, and if it doesn't feel right, it most likely isn't!  Good luck!

It was a scam. Here is the message from a so called chriselliot@gmail.com:
Hello,

Thanks but unfortunately I can only make payment  using a bank check which will be delivered to you via postal service mail , I will contact an agent that will handle the pick-up as soon as you receive the check,I also want you to know that I will be adding the payment for pick-up to the check that will be sent to you  in which you will deduct your money  and send the remaining balance to the agent who will be coming for the pickup,once you receive the check please proceed to cash  it immediately ,

arrange to have the transaction take place at the local police or sheriffs department
the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!
