1-2 lbs of boost would be pointless id say if your gonna do it you need atleast 7-10 psi anything less is just gonna be a waste and you coulda done the same thing Naturally Aspirated.

stay 10 lbs or below, it's hard to tune a carb'd turbo set up correctly for any type of street use at anything over 10lbs, and make sure your fuel syste is up to par.... I've built several Turbo setups and the blow through carb setups are tough to get to transition from vacuum to boost

What kind of turbo is it? Is it blow thru or is it draw thru? Cause im pretty sure the old Ak Miller turbo kits ran like 8psi and they just bolted those on stock motors I do believe. Theres a few people here with them that would know for sure of the exact PSI. But i can tell you right now anything lower then 7PSI is just gunna be pointless.

Blow thru the carbs still mounted on the intake draw thru is just that before the turbo where the air can be drawed through it. Also if it was draw through you cant run a intercooler due to the fact it will cause the air/gas mixture to turn back into liquid.

After you put it on get it tuned to about 5-6psi which your prolly going to need a wideband to do.
If your worried about it coming apart save a little money and try to find some forged piston that are for low compression around 8-1 or 8.5-1 and maybe even some stronger rods those are the 2 things any forced induction motor is hardest on. Then you can put more boost in and wont have to worry about melting a piston or bending a rod.
