rear window(hatchback) defroster?
« on: August 11, 2008, 12:30:07 AM »
I have a 79 hatchback. It has the rear defroster, but the passenger side wire is missing from the hydraulic lift support to the glass.
I was wondering if the defroster will work partially, like every other strip, or is this wire needed to make the circuit complete for the defroster to work at all? Or, is this wire even part of the circuit?
If it won't work at all as is, any thoughts on how best to fix it. I will need this to work once winter gets here in Ohio.
Thanks,
Russ

I would assume that it is required to make use of the defrost circuit, as the ones on my Saturn Ion must both be connected for it to work. Any glass should should be able to attach another tab to the circuit and replace the wire to make it operational again.

best of luck!
