Current Vehicles - Upper Lower Control Arms
« on: April 06, 2019, 07:34:55 PM »
Had the magical brain _art on the way back from picking up a Pizza.

With new vehicles using a lot of Aluminum in Control Arms, has anyone seen a modern vehicle of a size than would have Control Arms which could be adapted to the PINTO.

With the exorbinant prices of some of the Tubular Control Arms, why hasn't there been found a workable, low cost  replacement that's comparable or better?

Food for thought.

Speedway's tubular control arms aren't that expensive. I bought both upper and lowers for less than it would cost for just uppers for my 72 Ranchero.

Assuming you are talking about 74-80 that is.

I really doubt if you can adapt newer control arms without a ton of fab work.

I'm starting to believe you. Did a walk around the Internet and got lost and dizzy. I just thought the do it your self'ers might have hit upon something creative.

I like probably most around here enjoy walking through Junk Yards looking for the what could I use that for.

Oh, yeah. I don't get to do that very often, but it is one of my favorite things to do.

Not to butt in, however if you are using Hooker super comp headers you won't have room to use aftermarket lower control arm that are on the outsides of the original mount. You have to use the Heidt's type narrow tubular, which which will still mean using strut arms also.
