This is a copy of a message from another Pinto group. I thought it was important, so I am posting it to all the groups I belong to.
Please read it, as you may have someone you might want to pass it along to. I made it a bit dry, but the essential message (the reply) is funny and can be cut and pasted into an email.

First of all, I noticed how busy you were tonight. Lot's of replies
to fellow Pinto fans, and as far as I know, good stuff.
Secondly, I enjoyed your reply to the reply that I made to the brake
issue, so much so that I have to let you know that I am posting it in
all the groups I belong to, and sending it to family and friends for
enjoyment, and in the hopes it will remind us, humorously so, that
Murphy's Law IS a reality, exspecialy when one is young and invincible.
These situations includes tires, fuel lines, or any other potential
problem that may cause loss of control or chemical reaction outside of
the desired controlled results, such as fiscal spending. And includes
maintence. How many of us have welded a wrench to the frame of our
autos working on a battery, even just for a momment, forgetting to
disconnect the ground first. Batteries used to build up hydrogen gas
(Quickley in arc!), which is explosive when sparked, bathing the
worker in sulfuric Acid. I don't know, but assume its still true.
THIS IS WHAT I WILL POST:
I probably spend way too much time reading from 1 to 20 postings in
the 3 or 4 car groups that I 'subscribe' to, online. Most of the time
is spent just scanning daily digests to see if I can glean a little
information, look for parts, or see what ego battles are going on
between members about their 'knowledge'. Much 'reading' is equalivent
to the way most like to read the paper or watch the news. Sometimes I
spend equally too much time replying to a topic that I don't think was
responded to quite accurately.
Like the young lady car enthusiast who is 'solo' in New Jersey and had
a strange loss of braking (a pedal sink) at a stop with the engine
running. She inquired to one of the groups, questioning if she should
be concerned about this, as it only happened once. She got a lot of
how to fix / check for this, responses. But nothing that would fly a
red flag on such a serious issue.
When you put the brakes on, they always, without fail, should work.
So I put my two cents in, with a rather lengthy reply with my own
simplified checks and comments, under the subject heading: 'Brakes
re-hashed- sorry...', a paragraph of which was included as the first
paragraph in another member's reply to my reply, below, which sort of
iced the cake, so to speak.

I can vouch for that. Had a bad master in my `71 Dart when I was 19.
Couldn't afford a new one so "I was just careful". Till one day I
visited my
landlord...... by driving right through the side of his office!!! Pulled
into the lot, hit the brakes and nothing. Drove right through the side
of the
building sending his desk catapulting across the room and smashing on the
opposite wall. THANK GOD he was out in the shop when this happened. My
insurance
covered the damage, but the point was that I KNEW the car was messed
up and
should have fixed it regardless of "not having the money".

2) If not just for the humor value, or shock, how much was my time worth?

You wouldn't sign your loved ones up for a barrage of sales calls
during dinner, or an audit from the IRS, would you?
