Exactly my point...same re-hash of the same old story of mis-information. This was/is on the MSN main page TODAY.

yep, to true... unfortunatly the internet is full of misleading and incorrect info on a wide range of subjects and our poor liitle Pintos will never be seen or recognized for what they were - an automotive sucess story - and only remembered as the the BBQ that seats 4

I did however notice that this year and with all the press online that the Pinto Stampede received a google search for Ford Pinto did have a lot of articals that mentioned the myth of the Ford Pinto and a little bit more positive stuff about the Pinto was in the 1st few search result pages

At least they wrote, with government required repairs....IE recall kit ....Still how many Pintos have you seen in the wreaking yard that have been in a fire.
None.  How many new cars with a EFI system that did not shut off the fuel after a wreak, too many to count.....And yet OUR cars are still blamed for this.....

most Pinto People don't even get the facts correct... The government was asked to take a look at the #'s and force a recall and when they looked at the #'s they concluded there was no reason to force Ford to recall the Pinto. Ford issued the recall only after the law suits started because of public opinion, they simply didn't want to look the bad guys and it was done only for PR reasons.

I took a brand new 1973 Pinto through an intersection on a green light and drove through a 1972 Vega from it's right front headlight all the way to its left windshield pillar.

After I was finished with that little problem the Pinto (with me along as a passenger) carried itself along into a traffic signal pole with what remained of its front end and then spun to the left and took out a traffic signal control box with the right rear quarter of the car.

I took a look at the car in the wrecking yard after I was released from the hospital and found that there was not a single body panel on the car that was not dented or buckled.  There was not any glass on the car that was not shattered.  All 5 tires were flat!

And not a single drop of fuel had leaked. No drips. No flames. No fiery death! No nothin.  The wrecker said he had to drain about 10 gallons of fuel before sending it to the 'cubing' machine.
