Here's an interesting one. In the Disney movie Sky High, there is a car that falls on one of the students. I am pretty sure it's an older Pinto sedan or Runabout. hard to tell.

Can't remember where, but my GF says she saw one in Jumanji, I'll watch it this weekend and find out where in there it is.  Dang, and I thought that I was the only one who pauses, rewinds, and verifies that I saw a Pinto in a movie.   We have a disease man...lol    Hello, my name is Seth, and I'm a Pintoholic!!!  LOL

After a visit to Southfork Ranch last summer, my wife and I started purchasing the "Dallas" series on DVD.  Own seasons 1-7 now, season 8 to be released in February.  There is a white Pinto seen in a stock downtown Dallas traffic scene used frequently in the series over multiple seasons.  It is a long shot and appears to have been filmed with a wide-angle lens so not sure of the exact year, although I can see it well enough to determine that it is the older, round-headlight version.

I looked through the list twice and didn't see the low budget flick, "Double Nickels."  There is a great scene where a Pinto is chased by police down some of L.A.'s infamous "stairway sidewalks."

Just go to U-tube, type in "double nickels" and enjoy!

Saw the movie "Karate Kid" last night. In the opening scenes, in front of LaRusso's townhome, the camera pans up as he and his Mom are driving away to California, showing a line of cars parked in front. There is a '73 hatchback in the group.

ALSO: In the "Kolchak: Night Stalker" original series (LOVED it when I was a kid, have it on DVD), there are SEVERAL episodes which show both Pintos and Mavericks along the streets as Kolchak tools around town in his modest 60's Mustang convertible.

Last week's episode of "Supernatural" (great show) on the CW had one of the main characters driving a late model Pinto.  Of course, the episode was set in 1973, so it was technically incorrect, but there was good coverage of the Pinto, no snide Pinto comments, and the Pinto didn't get destroyed!

I just spotted a light green '73 Pinto Wagon with bumper guards in the 1986 movie "FX"! They show it very slightly from the driver's side and the camera slides in front of the car while they are at the impound lot getting stuff from the FX van.

You just gotta love a gal who watches "The Dukes of Hazzard"! ;D   When you trek eastward toward Carlisle in 2011, we'll have to introduce to Cooter's Place.  They are "Dukes of Hazzard" museum/gift shops opened by Ben "Cooter" Jones... they are scattered throughout the southeast.  Lot's of interesting stuff.

You should've seen the DoH stuff I had... t-shirts, Mom made me DoH curtains, bedclothes, the cars, action figures, pajamas, coloring books, a Flash stuffed dog (I still have her), a I love (actually a heart) Bo with John Schneider and his acoustic guitar looking mmmm mmm good, so much stuff. I had the white plastic DoH cowboy hat (wore it at Huntington Beach in the early '80s and a wave took it from me. It's probably in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch collecting barnacles...An yway, while boys and men were drooling over Daisy Duke and her very short shorts I was drooling over both Bo and Luke. I did have a teeny crush on Cooter and Enos Strait too. I forgot how funny Rosco could be...

Then, I repeat... you'd LOVE Cooter's Place!  Ben "Cooter" Jones and his General Lee are a fairly normal sight around here.  Have spotted him tooling along I-81 numerous times and he often makes appearances locally.  A little older, but still Cooter!

I know Phil already said Smokey And The Bandit, but I HAD to chime in that I counted no less than three Pintos- a medium to dark blue sedan or Runabout in the scene where Buford T. and his very handsome but very dumb son were "stopped" at the funeral procession ((look behind white Ford F series truck (old of course)) when Buford T. steps out of his long-suffering patrol car); a white squire wagon parked in a yard (?) when The Bandit turns off the asphalt onto a dirt road to lose some State officers; and at the Run's finish line- a Runabout is parked along the home stretch. This is my hobby! lol. PintoSpotting!

If there wasn't one in Gran Torino there should've been. They are both from the same era and same manufacturer.

"Straight Talk" Dolly Parton loses her job and heads from Arkansas to Chigago in a red 79-80 sedan with Arkansas plates to start a new life as a radio talk show host. I only saw the first 15 minutes of the movie, so I don't know if the car re-appeared after the opening credits.

In the movie Beaches. You had to catch it quick, though. When the police woman drives Bette's character back to her pad drunk. There's a early-looking medium yellow gold Pinto sedan/Runabout parked on the street behind the police car. Also there's a Comet or Maverick (white or very light blue) parked on the left of the police car.  ;D

Phil did such a good job listing movies, and I'm afraid I'm having brainfarts repeating what he already said. That said, I watched Mask last night and spotted two Pintos- an early-looking medium brown metallic (? ) at the beginning where the screen says "Written by Anna Hamilton Phelan. (Pinto is on left of screen- driven from the right) and a tan (flesh-tone) '77-'78 when Rusty's parents and Rocky are getting ready to come in the house. Hooooo... that movie still wrings tears from me...

In 9 to 5, there's a dark colored Pinto wagon to the left when the girls are trying to dump their boss's body. It looks brown and early.  ;D

There's one in the parking lot but I can't remember the color (light blue I think) or whether it was a sedan, Runabout or a wagon.  ??? :-\ :)

Phil, am I blind or did I not see Thelma and Louise in your list? There's a light colored '74 or '75 (judging by the bright trim around the taillights) Runabout in the parking lot where that a-hole would-be rapist gets a bullet in his black heart. You see it as he and Thelma are going towards the car where the deed was done.

For a starring role I think it is hard to beat the black Pinto in "Double Nickels."  That car had lengthy screen time going up and down the steep, stair walkways of L.A..  I'd venture to guess that no other Pinto has had as much continuous screen time and been the central focal point of the scene.

OK I can't believe Phil missed THIS one! I've been watching the Mary Tyler Moore show and accidentally got on Season 3 episode 24 (I'm only on season 2 episode 2). Mary and Rhoda are getting their cars repaired and they seem to be at a Ford dealer. Outside I saw no less than two yes TWO brown or saddle bronze metallic Pintos in the lot and (ohhh I'm drooling!) an orange Runabout with creamy white interior in the showroom next to a green Mustang convertible. I'm thinking they're '73 models because the Pinto has a one-button pop-out rear quarter window. Oh to see a new shiny Pinto!  ;D  There might be more. I had to stop the episode because, well, I'm on episode 2 of season 2. ;D

chalange for you blue  Police acadmey original  how many pntos  i saw 1 and it was used about 3 times in different locations can you also find the bobcats?

Phil I believe you did challenge me so I will hopefully do you proud with my sightings:

The dark green '77-'78 wagon- seen 3 times- #1 in the parking lot Mahoney worked at; #2 in the traffic jam when Mahoney's enemy pops a wheelie just before he crashes into the poor horse's arse; and parked in the parking lot at the Police Academy. Ahhh now the Bobcat(s): #1 driving in front of the police cruiser at beginning of movie (when the new recruits are coming in; #2 behind the one redneck cop-to-be when he's brown-nosing one of the senior officers; #3 (?) do I detect a headlight in that traffic jam (wheelie one)?; #4  Is that a Bobcat or Pinto sedan parked in that dark parking lot where the cop was hiding out when Mahoney and Hightower had a "driving lesson"? Possible other Pinto/Bobcat sighting- when the P.A. buses responded to the riots there was a very Pintoesque or Bobcatesque vehicle  parked along the street. Thank goodness for dvd tracking! Phil, did I pass? Do I get a gold star!?  Huh? Huh?

You should have told her that if you'd known that, you'd have spent the bucks to see it on its first run!

I've been watching reruns of Major Dad on Hulu. In season 2 episode 15 the General talks about his 1956 (?) MG in English Racing Green and Lieutenant Holowachuk talks about his 1977 Pinto. Major MacGillis replies, "You STILL drive a 1977 Pinto." lol. Go Holowachuk!  ;D

Found a squire wagon in Genesis' video for Misunderstandi ng, brief shot when a green wagon of some sort drives past, there is a SW parked on the road behind it.

Actually there were TWO Pintos... the green Squire mpg (check out the steel wheels) I'm guessing it's a post-75 Squire) and an early green sedan or Runabout. You can see the grille. Love that song BTW... great memories attached to it.

Just finished watching sorcerer's apprentice with the family. What a great Pinto scene! :D Great side shot and some decent interior shots to, even if they were dark! :D

I had to replay the Pinto scene to see it again, my wife thinks I'm crazy! lol

On the Charley's Angels tv show, Jacklin Smith always drove a Pinto, and in one episode she was in a car chase in it and it got dented rather badly. I probably did not spell her name right, but you know what I mean! Lorenzo

I know this list has been lonely for awhile, but I had another Pinto sighting. Remember the series Twin Peaks? In season 2 episode 2 Lara Flynn Boyle's character takes over the late great Laura Palmer's Meals On Wheels route. Her first seen stop is this elderly woman shut-in and her grandson.  It is suggested to the girl that she visit a "Mr. Smith next door", as he was friends of Laura's.  When she walks out of the one house the parking lot can be seen in the background. A '77 or '78 brown Pinto front end can be clearly seen.  I had my Pinto radar going for several episodes... then boom! there it is!

A new show sighting! Larry The Cable Guy is into Pintos again- this time in a hilarious series called Only In America With Larry The Cable Guy. He's not actually in a Pinto... but in Season 1 Episode 1 he's talking about how moonshine led to NASCAR's beginnings. Yep... the #20 black car is an early small-bumper Pinto sedan.  I've only seen this episode so far, but it's a scream and (so far) highly recommended if you like off-color humor.  ::)

Been watching old "Columbo"  (rest in peace Peter) reruns.  They seemed to do all the shooting on the street and there are many nice old cars driving by...  tons of pintos you need to look careful as they drive by.    can't tell you what episodes they are on, never paid much attention.

cheers

A few Pinto's as background vehicles in Herbie, and A sad 77 Cruising Wagon in Salton Sea. American Gigolo has a yellow hatch that Richard Gere rents when his car is out of commision.

Here's one for ya! It is called "LoveSick" It is a love story set in the beginning of the apocalypse. Two of the four horsemen are in it. War drives a nice red and black '10 Mustang California Special and Pestulence drives a white and green 74 Pinto squire wagon. Not seen it yet? That is because it is being filmed this weekend in Tacoma at the Pegasus Restaurant. The Pinto... is mine. The director read my post of how the car was stollen and recovered. He called me because I had my phone number in the first post and said it would be perfect. When I dropped it off last night everyone was so enamored with it, it was great! Can't wait to see it.

MacGyver Season one, episode three.  The opening gambit takes place in a junk yard.  There is at least one powder blue trunk model, and a cream colored wagon.

In the 1977 "freaky Friday" when the adult "Annabelle" plays baseball at the park and hits a home run that's bounces in the trash can......there are two cinnamon brown squire wagons parked on either side of the street in the background. The closer is a small bumper. The other a 75 with rallyes.

I know this was mentioned in this thread's very first post, but I just recently discovered "CHiPS" (don't know why I never watched it in the seventies or in re-runs later, but it's all new to me) and I can't recall ever seeing so many Pintos in the traffic scenes of any show!  I watched one episode last week and counted SEVEN!  I realize this it probably not news to anyone else here, but it absolutely amazes me.  I have now set my DVR to record the show daily so I can keep spotting Pintos (and Mustang II's, Torinos, Galaxies, Falcons, etc.)!

No Chevy Chase or Goldie Hawn but a light tap Pinto explosion spoof with a big bumper model.  I chuckle when they show the truck driver's terror as he see's the Pinto logo.

I was watching that weird creepy show Wayward Pines the other night... in the episode where the wife gets hired as a "realitor", I spied a Bobcat Villager wagon. I could tell by the hood shape where it showed the door and part of the hood.

Not sure if I ever mentioned this (long running post here) but the movie this Pinto is in  http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_239281-Ford-Pinto-Runabout-1979.html  is the first film I ever worked on. Oddly I wasn't all excited about the Pinto, but rather the Buick Centurion convertible on the far left.  It is (still) owned by a guy I've known for over 35 years (he worked on the film too).  He was so stoked when I found it.

BTW, the red AMC hornet wagon in the background, it was the DP's car. That is a sure indicator of what a low budget film it was. For those who have nothing better to do here is my account of working on the film. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173866/reviews?ref_=tt_urv
