Title: Pinto console

Is the console under the dash in this Pinto stock?

I believe those are correct for 71 & 72, the map pocket.  I have one somewhere.  71's also had an optional clock box combo instead of the map pocket thing.  I believe 73 was the first year of the plastic jockey box.

Nice to see more pictures of that wagon.  I have seen it off and on on craigslist but have never went to see it.

I didn't even notice the map pocket. I've seen the plastic piece before. Probably after the vinyl pocket fell off.

I like the Western wheels on that car though they look odd on a Squire.

I can't say whether its stock or not, just that I hate it.  That's the ONLY thing I don't like on that car though, I absolutely LOVE the rest of it

I have to agree with you on that!  It almost looks homemade!  I can't imagine Ford putting something like that in a car, but TIGGER knows his stuff so I'm betting he's correct!  Neither of my 1972's (one base sedan and one Squire wagon) had anything like that in them and, if they had, I would have removed it!

I know it makes me really appreciate the mustang II console I put in mine :P

I have a couple of Mustang II consoles too but neither is what I'd call perfect and the rest of the interior in my Squire looks so nice that I've never bothered to install one!

I got lucky, I found one that was just as beat up and faded as the rest of my interior, LOL

LOL  -  Some guys have all the luck!  Actually, I bought both of mine on eBay with the idea of taking the best parts of both and making one decent one.  The '72 sedan I used to have wasn't all that nice inside so that would have been fine, but then I sold it and bought a really nice, garage-kept, one-family, 67K mile 1972 Squire wagon and, as much as I'd like to have a console in it, I don't think either of these is nice enough to install without degrading the rest of the interior.

don't think it's a factory item as pictured.

the early 71 dash would vibrate quite a bit.

later in 72, some reinforcement  under the radio was added from the bottom of the dash to the tunnel to stiffen it up and that morphed into an under dash/radio "console"

I had several Pintos, some did have exactly that. This one is kind of bent up but is factory.

I have one as well. Attaches with 2 screws to the factory support brace under the dash/radio. :)

It's definitely stock. My bare-bones '72 has one exactly the same.

that's what I was told now by three others on my 71 console with clock and door compartment on it. I really do not need it, its kinda in the way of my t-5 I has to move it about 1 1/2 inches forward.
