I think this is the world's first Pinto book. Amazon says Feb release. 8)

It's in association with MotorWeek (John Davis) and Roush, so word is getting around. 8)

Sounds like the Ray Miller books for the Ford Falcon and the like.  I just hope, based on the title that it isn't a Mustang II book with Pinto footnotes.

Interesting side note. In 1993 a man named Norman Miller wrote a book on the Sunbeam Tiger. He aptly titled it, "The Book of Norman."  He had 1,000 copies made and struggled to sell them at $50 each. Eventually they all sold out and and when he went back to the publisher to get more..., he found that they were out of business..., and the printing plates had been destroyed!

All of a sudden the book started climbing in price.  Today roughly one or two come on sale in a given year. The average selling price is $1,500 and in one Ebay battle a copy sold for $3,455.  While it has many 'never before seen' aspects - about two thirds of the book is an outdated registry. Many of you may ask why there aren't digital copies made.  I don't know? Mr. Miller has declined to do so. Perhaps the unexpected notoriety is something he doesn't want to lose.

And, yes, I do own a copy. I won mine on Ebay in the very last second for $310 beating out a man who eventual became President of the California Sunbeam Tiger Associate.  It is actually from a group of about 12 printer error copies where Mr. Miller (who BTW, signed my copy) allowed supplemental pages to be copied.

I can pretty much assure you the new Mustang II/Pinto book will never become a collector's item.  How do I know?  Because I have one on pre-order through Amazon and my luck just doesn't run that way!  lol  Looking forward to it nevertheless.

Nice book to get. But today my Bobcat will get a new home. Took a loss, but got back most of what I payed for the engine rebuild. Car is going to Utah. Happy Bob trails, barely drove her. Supposedly, the purchaser will put a V8 in her.

Well, it only took from last August until now, but I finally got my copy of the new Ford Mustang II & Pinto book yesterday!  Haven't had time to sit down and look through it yet, but intend to do so this weekend.  I honestly can't remember ever ordering anything else from Amazon that was subject to so many delays and reschedulings; I hope it is worth the wait.

I spent about an hour Tuesday thumbing through mine.  It actually seems to be quite well done.  The Pinto safety myth is well addressed.  There are photos of some familiar cars; Bill & Connie Rainey's orange and white Pinto and Brad Fagan's Pangra.  There is, of course, a few paragraphs on the doomed flying Pinto.  The PCCA is listed as a Pinto contact, as is the Pinto Stampede.  I'm looking forward to delving into it more thoroughly before long, but I at least spent a little time with it. I think you'll enjoy it.
