In need of a new 2.0 head for my 71. If anyone knows of a place in the united states that builds heads for these can you attach the website? Done quite a bit of searching but all i can find is places in the UK. Would like a higher performance head compared to a stock head.

Do you have the head? If so you can send it almost anywhere. I may even have a head at home if you need it. Rock auto has the parts for it also, so if your machine shop can't get the parts you can order them on rock auto and give them to them or have the shave the head and you can put it back together. I have a complete 2.0 also that had the top half rebuilt.

What are you thinking a rebuilt head should cost for a machine shop to do? Just trying to see if my past machine shop is screwin me or not cause it seemed a bit high for 650 just for new valve work

Also what would be a good valve size? lookin to put some bigger valves into it while im getting the machine work done but just dont know where to start. Stock bottom end but while im getting head work i might as well save some money and throw some bigger valves in.

Scott built some 2.0 engines that are pretty hot. If you search on here you can probably find his build and see what he did or message him.

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Sounds like hes trying to take advantage and get some extra cash. Called a couple local shops earlier today after i made this post and both said itll be a couple hundred bucks. Way better than $650 lol

Yeah and they can do it. I have a head here also. Might be expensive to ship though.

Well, if you need a head just let me know. PM me your address and I'll send it to you. I'll just add like 10 bucks to give to my shipping person for doing it.
He can experiment with this one before you give him yours! Supposedly, this may just drop in and work!

Once you start talking bigger valves another whole can of worms there. If they do not accurately bore the throats below valve bigger to suit the new valve and the necessary handwork that follows then the new bigger valve often LOWERS flow as it then blocks the flow hole more from the bigger size. You'll definitely be in MUCH higher cost doing that work. The job requires some extra tooling and not nearly any shop will be able to do it, but that doesn't stop them from telling you they can.
The throat size and valve size are picked to be complementary to each other. Bigger valves from other engines often mess up the geometry due to length too, and not just anyone again will have the ability to shorten the valve if needed.
We found back in the days of the family shop that a lot of 'bigger valve heads' we ran across were pretty much junk, including some pretty high dollar shops. Lots of ways to get it wrong and only a few do it right. Buyer beware is the word there.
Just sayin' and no impinging of any name that is mentioned in this thread is intended.
