it is kinda wide and youd need a deep backspacing to keep thewheels under the fenders.... like 5.5 backspacing... i know i used one.... i eventually got mustang axles and drum brakes to narrow the rear by 1.5 inches.....

How much wider is it than the stock Pinto axle?  I'd like to know since I might buy the whole drivetrain out of an 88 Turbo Coupe when I have the money.

Does anyone know the backspacing on takeoff wheels from the later mustangs? They look deep. Maybe the t bird rear and some front wheel spacers would help those to fit.

I'm pretty sure he's wrong its like 61" form mounting surface to mounting surface on a stock 88 TC rear.   A stock pinto rears like 57" form mounting surface to mounting surface. Yes it could be used under a pinto but appropriate wheels would have to be chosen.

Thanks, picking it up this weekend.  Been thinking about flaring it anyway when I remove the rust.  2" each side? right wheels, a little bulge, cool.

In reverse.., I welded in the 6-3/4" rearend from my Pinto into my 88 Turbo Coupe when it went to the junkyard. Perhaps this will give you a perspective on the difference. There is quite a gap between the wheel and the wheel opening.
