Hey guys, I been lurking in the shadows for a while but now I am back,
Today I took my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix to the shop to have the transmission looked at, when I got a call a couple hrs later. They weren't sure if they had the same issue as I took the car for so I hopped in the Pinto & drove to the shop. No problems with that so I drove the car there. I fired the car right up as if I had never stopped driving. I had planned on running some errands so I drove her instead of the Pontiac. I was driving & all of a sudden I heard a pop. Didn't think anything of it until I noticed I had no hazzard flashers. Fearing a fuse was blown I backed up to a window & sure enough no lights. I replaced the fuse I got back on the road. No issues & I kept hitting the brake pedal to make sure. They kept working so I got back on the road. I made a few more stops, then went to the local Speedway to get a drink. Get back in & heard a "POP". Same thing. The fuse blew. I put in another fuse & it popped as soon as I hit the pedal. The rest of the way home I would have to stick my hand out the window to signal I was stopping. Not good on a cold cold day. That car just never wants to drive. I might as well as crush it if every time I drive the car I have problems!Them gremlins have decided to play with my wires, right as I started to drive the car.
Mr Futterman was right. Them gremlins get into anything. Couldn't spot them but it was also daylight. No water in the car so they can't multiply lol.

Maybe it's upset with you for driving the Pontiac around all the time. Something has grounded out some where.

Nah, this car is always giving me fits whenever I try to drive it. I figure there is a wire shorting to ground at the steering column. Just don't feel like dropping it in the cold.

& now I am driving my Uncle's 1992 F-150 until my Pontiac gets out of the shop. :'(

The problem could be in the turn signal switch. Ford is bad about problems like that when they get old. I've ran into that issue many times.

I can't remember, but did you change your ignition switch yet?
If so, perhaps it's time to tear into the wiring harness?

Yep, sure did. In June I had an issue with a pinched wire after I replaced the turn signal switch. I got the switch from a Ford swap meet & it was too long but instead of shortening it I went ahead & dropped the column & made it fit. When I put the column back up I pinched a wire, causing the same issue I have now. I taped the wire back up & had no problems until now. I think it just rubbed & rubbed until it broke back through so when it is nicer out I'm gonna drop the column again & fix it the right way by shortening the harness. Oh well, lesson learned lol. Now I just gotta keep the car where it is until it does warm up. A shame too. I would much rather drive the Pinto, than a big gas guzzling truck.

Sorry to hear that Harold II is giving you fits again. Hang in there...you'll figure it out!
So, where did the Pontiac come from? A replacement for the Malibu Maxx? Never had a Pontiac but have owned Chevys, Oldsmobiles, and a handful of Cadillacs over the years; same thing when you get down to it. Good luck with getting both cars back on the road and getting out of your uncle's gas-guzzling truck!

Yep, the Pontiac Grand Prix is a replacement for the Malibu Maxx. I wasn't planning on replacing the car but received a letter in the mail from Coughlin Chevrolet saying the car is in high demand & they wanted to give me a good deal on it. The Malibu needed a fuel pump, detailed inside, new front bumper, RR door panel, couple new wheels, cooling system flush, transmission service, CV joint replacement, new tires... Lotsa cash lol. I figured what the heck & the rest is history. Only thing was that the Grand Prix started to have an issue with the RPMs jumping all over the place when accellerating so I took it in. Figured the car has a 100k warranty & she only has 35k so why not lol

By all means... if you have a warranty, use it! My wife's cousin had a Grand Prix she drove over 250,000 miles and just traded on a 2011 Impala. She said it was starting to give her trouble, but everything she described sounded like nitpicky little stuff.
