Rear end gear ratios

Can anyone tell me what the factory gear ratios were for the following rear ends?

1976 wagon MPG model with 2.3L, 6.75" rear end
1978 glass hatch V6 model 8" rear end (white car with red accents, factory mags and center caps) - I think this was a package

I have had 76 hatch 8" w/3.40 and 77 wagon 8" w/3.08.The 6.75 rears in sedans I had 3.08 s.

Easy to check. Turn the brake drum one turn and count the number of times the drive shaft turns. One turn of the drum and three turns of the yoke would be 3:00 X 1.  I learned this from a Vega owner when he was trying to see how far he could go before the engine would blow up.

Been there, done that. Though I will say with driveline slop the difference between say... 3.40 and 3.55 can, at times, be hard to discern. The 8" "should have a tag showing the ratio.  When I would go to Pick A Part looking for an 8" rear I would always write in the dust on the rear glass the ratio - helps out the next guy from having to crawl under.

  Once I tried to detect the 1st gear ratio of a Jeep Toploader. I had to crank over that V-8 engine by hand over three times before I could detect that it WASN'T the T-178 transmission I was hoping it was. I was more doing pull-ups under the Jeep than I was getting rotation.
