I was looking up the first movie I ever worked on and low and behold I find on IMDB a link to a late model Pinto that was in the film. Should anyone be concern about the 1980 Pinto (some say 1979) in a 1975 film rest assured it was shot in 1980 (though the release date likely was 1981).

The movie itself has a similarity to all the negative comment thrown towards the Pinto. However, in this case the film deserves all the negativity it got. it's a 1979, not an 80 ;)

Yup that is a '79 It is not unusual that people mistake '79 and '80 pintos all the time, there is very little difference. There were several colors only available in either year. The V6 was dropped for 1980. But the only visual difference is the rubber bumper pads at the ends of the front and rear bumpers (the '79's were smooth '80's had grooves). Even Ford was confused, if you look closely at the orange car on the cover of the dealer brochure you will see smooth (1979) bumper ends. .............. ..of course it could be an '80 with '79 bumpers?? Sorry for adding more useless info. :) :) :)

Alas, I'm afraid I would be concerned with cars and other stuff in a period piece. I'm a nerd that way. My older brother and my Dad both criticized the movie Pearl Harbor because the aircraft in the movie was built after 1941. They are military buffs and aviation fanatics so they spotted that stuff right away. When I watched a little-known movie about the Beatles in Hamburg called Backbeat I pulled that one apart... because of the guitars! I can't help it! :)

The guy in Hawthorne CA called me and wanted to know if I would buy his yard of aircraft used in Tora Tora . He new I did aircraft movies and commercials. They were so fake. Fred
