Where is our 'Most likely to be struck by lightening' member Russ Osborne? The COVID - 19 is upon the nation and he hasn't posted in a while. I'd hate to see anyone here stricken (hopefully not). Especially for him since he was finally getting the subterfuge of wayward projects out of his life, got himself a truck every car guy needs and seemed poised to finally move ahead on his main Pinto project.
BTW, speaking of MIA, does anyone know what ever happened to Dick 1172762? He was getting up there in his 80's and with a parting farewell bowed out. My experience is that when that happens it isn't a good thing. He lived next door to the Duggar's of 19 kids and Counting/ Counting On fame. So, a while back I searched the obituary's of that area looking for a Dick/Richard but only found mention of one guy who seemed close in age and was a car guy. But they only mentioned Thunderbird's (not Pinto's) which is something I never recall Dick talking about. I know it took a while to find out that Diane had died a number of years back.
Being a bit Pintosopher-ish: As we go through the drag race of life keep your 'dial in' six paces off that of the guy in the other lane. Surely you don't want to 'break out' and be eliminate. Run an 18, run a 20 but don't find yourself running a 19 with a win light that will never glow like the setting sun. LOL

I haven't heard anything from Russ but he was logged on to the site in the early hours of Friday morning, so I'm assuming he is okay. Hope so anyway!
I went through about the same process as you did concerning Dick and never came up with any concrete information. I hope I'm incorrect, but I am assuming he has passed. He has not logged on to the site in well over a year.

Well, glad to hear reassuring news with the log in.
When Dick said he was backing away from posting I had a feeling that things were not well. I sent him a PM but he chose not to elaborate and I left it at that. A lot of knowledge and experience he had. When we use these car websites we are often focused on the 'here and now.' But for the future generations they are historical logs. And, much like we may enjoy reading the 'early days of hot rodding' I'm sure there may be a few Pinto enthusiasts down the road that will indulge themselves reading from places like the PCCA.
Anyway, below is an image from Google Maps. I was able to deduce where Dick lived based on his infamous neighbors location and the Googlemobile camera found his garage door open and his Pinto exposed. I assume that is Dick standing in the garage. He got a kick out of that when I showed him.

Dick was helping me with some performance ideas I had for my Pinto and hadn't responded to my last letter. On April 3, 2018, I wrote him to see if everything was alright. He wrote me back and said he had been under the weather with bronchus. He never responded to any letters from that point forward. A really nice guy, and a fountain of valuable knowledge.

Dick Elliott's last post on this site was in December of 2018. I agree, he was a wealth of Pinto knowledge. In my opinion, the biggest asset the online PCCA has, as opposed to the Facebook one, is our archives. They've grown considerably over the 21 years we've been here.

According to My Life, my dad is still with us as well and turned 91 in December of last year. In reality, he died at 75 sixteen years ago last week :( . Obviously, their information is faulty but my question is: where did it come from? My dad was never on a computer in his life! I was even more greatly surprised to learn after all these years that I am African American - I always thought I was Caucasian! :o Seems like I would have noticed that somewhere along the way, eh? ??? My Life has become a total joke!

I get where you're coming from - we all feel that way sometimes. Just a word or two every now and then would serve to keep our minds at ease. This forum is a bit like a family and we DO care.

I agree about making an occasional post. Even though I have no mechanical ability, I always enjoyed reading Dick's tips. When I first joined the group, I spent a lot of time searching and reading the archives. The posts by Fred and Diane were always interesting. I really felt sad when I learned that both had passed on.

Hey I,m still here and report as safe and Covid free (crazy not so much ) I have not been posting as much as I use to but working to the time I can again , 173 working days until I can say retired , (dont count weekends so it will seem shorter , I also do miss the post from those that are no longer with us , plans and ideas that they wanted to finish their projects on hand , I am shorthanded here at work and most of my pinto time is taken up , I do try to drop in when I can , stay safe everyone , Later Blaine
