Just found old topic Postal Pinto.

Still looking to see if any survived! I bought mine in 1991, and had it until 2003, it rusted away to nothing. I would like another one I would take much better care of. I am an ex Postal employee.

Were these right hand drive Pinto's? I have never heard of them. The only postal cars I vaguely remember were the last generation of the Rambler Americans (66-69) "similar" to the one below. I believe they were a darker blue / gray with a hint of metallic. Everywhere I lived in the early 60's to '77 had a mailman who delivered on foot to the box on the house or a slot in the door. Thereafter they always used a truck Jeep/AM General with a box at the curb.

They were not right hand drive. Ordinary Pinto Ponies, with right side mirror, tinted glass, rear defogger, and a plate on the dash, and the radiator stating Postal Unit. The oddest right hand drive Postal vehicles I remember were AMC Ambassadors and International Scouts! Pintos were used on deliveries, too, but were also used for travel from office to office.
