Jerry Walsh Interview
« on: February 26, 2017, 01:25:14 PM »
Today's Florida Times-Union newspaper has a front page story about Jacksonville resident Jerry Walsh's recent ALS diagnosis and marriage. The one and a half page article has a small section about Pintos. It reads as follows:

After a divorce at 30, living near New York City, Walsh jumped back fully into racing on courses around America, happily leaving a job selling advertising in the city. In his earlier years he had raced British cars, but this time around he started on a souped-up 1971 Pinto that his son now owns. It became his signature car.
People sometimes ask him: Jerry, a Pinto? Really?
"The Pinto, believe it or not-- people laugh at them now-- there were a lot of them raced. They were the easiest cars to turn into race cars. A great little race car," he says.

I thought those of you who have the ability and talent to modify your cars might appreciate Walsh's comments.

Without a doubt , the Man that created a legacy for us Compact racer types that have Ford Blue in the veins. My Prayers are with him, and my thanks to him and his Son Brian, for keeping the Torch lit.

Yes, it is possible to study and become a master of Pintosophy.. Not a religion , nothing less than a life quest for non conformity and rational thought. What Horse did you ride in on?

The Walsh's were certainly early Pinto roadracers and deserve much credit. But users of this site should give dick1172767 as much creds and respect. He was the guy who converted me to Pinto roadracing. His help continues for us all and we all appreciate his knowledge and efforts.
