Title: It never ceases to amaze me (Pinto Ad)

Where do I begin...:
"Pinto Wagen," - no, this would be wagOn, not WagEn.
"72 Pinto," - the front bumper is the extended '73 bumper and presumably so is the whole car.
"Straight six engine," - hummm..., that would put the (knob-less) shift lever somewhere in proximity of the rear seat.
"Rust from sitting," - as if a car in motion doesn't rust.
"Good interior complete," - ahhh..., completely shot.

Nothing happening here to boost the already bad image the Pinto has in the publics eye. Normally I try and be charitable but there are just so many errors here.

Yeah, they should have just posted the photos and let it go at that.   I was watching an auto auction on television last year and they was showing a Chevrolet pickup truck (about a 1950 or so) and the lady doing the walkaround for the camera pointed under the hood and called the straight 6 a V6 and then opened the door to show the "one piece bench bucket seat".  Must have had something going for her other than a basic knowledge of old cars and trucks.

Sigh...those bad ads with poor pictures made my search for a Pinto quite challenging before I found my pandemic project! What really gets me more than the inaccuracy of the ads is whenever I reach out to the seller, they get annoyed when I questioned about the condition, features, or even the power train when it wasn't even mentioned in the advert!

Another thing is sometimes the ad would have the date stamped by the camera and it is an old picture. I saw one ad that shown something like 4/16/1994. That's 26 years ago, so a lot can happen during that timeframe! When asked for more pictures or questions, they would refer back to that old picture...chuc kling. There have been ads with only a portion of the car is visible...like you see the half of the front door to the middle of the rear wheel well arch, or having a family of four standing in front of car showing only the front or rear bumpers! LOL

Happy Motoring!

Sadly a number of years back I met a very reasonable seeming guy in the Pick Your Part yard who seemed VERY interested in my old 2.0 engine I had pulled for my Turbo 2.3 swap. We exchanged contacts and as late as Friday night he agreed to come by Saturday afternoon. Well, that came..., and went..., and he never replied to any other contact attempts. And the guy was no more than 10 miles away.

Later there was a 16 year old girl who was just dying for a Pinto. Her dad had driven a considerable distance to see one and as it turns out it was the same guy. I forgot what transpired but either the car was sold while they were in transit, he decided at the last minute not to sell it, or the condition was so far removed from what was stated that it wasn't worth the price (I think it was the latter). In any case the father was more than PO-ed and the girl was heartbroken.  I just don't understand how people can be that way. It is like they delight in inflicting misery upon others and seem callous about how it affects others.
