Just getting through a stretch of -45c temps. Went out to my (heated) shop today & glanced at the Temp/Humidity gage.....NO it is not broken !

Yea, it's all about being "dry." LOL This past summer (2020) we had a 114 F day - but it was a "dry heat." I live in an ideal weather zone (minus the infrequent extremes). More winter days than not are no colder that 65F and most summer days are no hotter than the low 80F's. Again, there are a few extremes days (hot ones mentioned above). We've also had a light dusting of snow twice in the 43 years I've been here. In case you are wondering, 15 miles inland, north of Malibu.

Being a consumer-grade hygrometer, it probably has an accuracy of 10% at 50%RH that gets worse at each end of the scale, so its brain is scrambled at that low humidity. We have RH levels below 20% most of the year and 8-12% all summer. It takes a long time for bare steel to rust and cars don't really rust at all. The worst part IMO is the wind. Easily 280 windy days a year. When it isn't windy, it's either 10 or 110F. It's surprisingly difficult to work on a car outdoors because it's either very cold or very hot and always with grit blowing into everything. People think CA has great weather all the time. Some parts do, but most do not.
