Title: Insuring a Pinto
Post by: Gonzobobcat on January 12, 2014, 06:30:52 AM: What is the best way to insure my '77 Bobcat?

I had liability insurance that wasn't too expensive but if anything happens I'm out what I put in.

My Bobcat is a daily driver, but only because I like to drive it. Seems a waste to let it in the garage, so I drive it all the time.

I'm returning from Afghanistan in a few days and need to take the car out of storage and get it insured again.

Advice??

military. If so, thank you for your service. If my assumption is true then
your best auto insurance is at your finger tips. That is, USAA insurance.
No one can best them in price and service. Here is their link:

Give them a call and they can give you the details. Also, I had my '77
insured with them (very pleased) until I changed the status of my '77,
after restoration, from a daily driver to a collector car. Then I went to
Grundy Insurance and have been pleased with them. Here is their link:

Hagerty is great, but it requires that you have a daily driver that is 25 years or less. That's the real reason I bought the BMW. It's really inexpensive, but again you have to have a daily driver that is newer.

I went through that scenario before was a way to get out of smog, every insurance company I called had the same policy.. >:( >:(

I recently switched from Progressive to eSurance, neither of which had an issue insuring my 72. ESurance was just north of 1/3 the 6 month premium of Progressive ($257 vs almost $700/6 mos) for the same 2 cars/drivers/situation for better coverage (though we only have liability).

Just throwing out another option for you. Welcome home!

Post by: dianne on March 19, 2014, 08:56:32 AM: State Farm has a decent classic car program and not much more than Hagerty with glass coverage and everything. Since I dropped the BMW in favor of a 70 Galaxie 500 I had to find an alternative. State Farm was it!!!

agree! We actually insure all our old cars with them
