I sold Bob.
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:26:28 AM »
There was a post on the local CL, a guy wanted a Pinto or Bobcat, Hatch or coupe, 4cyl4sp. I ignored it for the first 5 or 6 times I saw it but then just on a whim I responded with what I had.

He called me about an hour later, liked what I said I had. I told him I had taken the hatch off because the window seal was leaking and there was some rot on the bottom flange. I also told him I would not let the head with $550 worth of Crane cam, springs, lifters and followers or my LX wheels and tires go with it. I had a head that I just got from the machine shop on the bench.

Well about two hours later he drove about 60 miles to see it and gave me $300 to not sell it until I finished the work. I told him it wasn't really for sale so if he didn't want it when I was done I wanted to keep it. THe deal was, his son and son-in-law wanted daily drivers that they could take out on the autocross track on the weekends. His son-in-law had just bought a 77 Bobcat I think in Oregon and mine was a 77 so they would have matching, not Pintos but Bobcats. What are the odds. This was a Christmas present for his son.

It took me three weekends to get the work done but they came and got it, I got $1,000 and his son was happy. I told them to join us and am watching for two new members.
