Geraldine Passes
« on: August 25, 2012, 07:17:28 AM »
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Geraldine Pyke, original owner of my car in her name. Those of you who know me and were at Knott's five years ago recall that Geraldine's family brought her to the show five years after I purchased her beloved baby.
I enjoyed talking to Geraldine several times a year just to let her know how her baby was doing. I will miss those conversations, but have great memories and a wonderful car to carry forward.

Hey Dave,  Sorry to hear this-

Did I meet her when you and I were at knotts? -I remember seeing the pictures and talking to you several times, it's almost like I knew her.

I believe I introduced her to you, she was in a wheelchair. I picked up one of the 1/32 scale die cast cars that looked just like her little baby and gave it to her at that time. I need to check out those pics.

Dave,

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Geraldine but you do, indeed, have a wonderful car to carry forward her memory.

Thank you Dwayne. I need to find pics here on the site from that visit to Knott's. I do recall my wife had not arrived at the show with the camera when Geraldine's family brought her out, but I have seen pics others took.
Where does time go? I need to have another PCCA event here real soon. Any chance you could make it back out? If I recall, you were either on VC or driving to see family. I hope all is well with you and your family.

We'll eventually get out that way again... in fact, my wife wants to go to Branson again at some point.  Not planning anything at the moment, though.  The past year has been a tough one.  First my sister got really sick, and then my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers.  We moved the two of them in with us right after the first of the year.  Mom declined really rapidly and died on July 9th.  My sister has declined also, but more slowly.  She is now in Hospice care and probably won't be with us much longer.  I'm tied up in the settling of my mother's affairs and the disposition of her house.  Once all that is done, we figure we owe ourselves a vacation and that's where the Branson trip will probably figure into things.  Just can't pinpoint a time yet.

When we were there four years ago, we had just visited family in Arkansas and were headed to visit friends in Texas.  The aunt and uncle in Arkansas have since passed so no connections there anymore.  If we make it to Branson MO however, we'll probably visit our friends in Dallas again, and so will be in your general vicinity.  I'll let you know once we have an idea what we're doing!
