FYI - Scammers on FB
« on: January 20, 2023, 11:04:33 AM »
Beware !
Lots of Scammers on FB are posting parts for sale. They post pictures of cars they do not have.
They "demand" if you pay with PayPal that it be as "Friends / Family.
One guy got me for $127.13 USD. He then wanted me to send another $100.00 USD for some kind of insurance & claimed I'd get it back when I picked up the parcel. Then later said 70% back.
I called Fed Ex & the woman told me that a person has the option to get insurance , but they DO NOT give ANY money back.
These scammers have gotten a good number of our folks.
I've been posting names etc & reporting to site management.
(they are likely on other car sites as well)

Names to watch for (shold I post them ?)

I see no reason not to post them.  You're providing a service to our other members by doing so.

Thanks,
Dwayne :)

Shaban Jairo

Chris Adam Morgan

William Alexander

Mind , that is not likely their real names. Also I'd bet they will keep changing names.

Big thing to beware of , they ask payment using wierd payment systems & if Pay Pal it is as "Friends & Family" only.
Pay Pal cannot help you if you pay that way.

Another one to watch for , I think. His profile is found lacking & is selling (?) 73 parts.
