Found out my lock rod rattles... and I couldn't be happier
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:32:21 AM »
I discovered last night the lock rod on the driver's door rattles, but it's ok. I'm sure it did it before, but with the other noises from the door (wind, other assorted rattles) I never heard THAT noise before. I replaced the  weatherstrip last night and what a difference! The ONLY noise out of the door now is that lock rod rattle. I'll be doing the passenger side this evening as well as the glass scrapers and fuzzies as well, so it should feel like a whole new car. I'll also be replacing the steering rag joint with a u-joint for a firmer feel to the steering in the near future. It's becoming a far more enjoyable ride eliminating one rattle/noise/clunk at a time! Who'd a thunk it from a 40 YO car...... ;D

Replaced the other side last night as well as passenger side scrapers. I've had new cars that aren't this quiet. There is this annoying noise in the rear now..... time to check the spare tire and jack. The hunt goes on.....
