Well, at least any potential modelers can't say they haven't been forewarned!  Thanks for sharing!  Actually, I think the model looks great!

I concur with Dwayne that I thought your model looked great!  I have purchased Pinto models from https://www.modelroundup.com with great success. Give them a try!

I concur they can be pricy…you could try to find it on eBay or Amazon, as once in a while they are priced less.

What glue are you using that melts the plastic? I've built many kits, and never had that problem. Orange label testors glue for most parts, and mod podge for clear parts like windows and headlights.

Soft, almost milky styrene? I had a couple lindberg kits like that. Locktite superglue might work when the styrene is like that.

My son made my that hatchback kit for Christmas.  He said that they must of used the old tooling, so the parts didn't fit well and the warping was pretty bad.  He does alot of high end kits, so he's pretty picky.  At least it's available & not for $75 like the original kits from the 70s...   I have a few of the new Pinto '79 cruzin van models, they look much better.  Need to kit bash 2 to make a Pinto pickup model...

I BUILT A LOT OF NASCAR MODELS BACK IN THE DAY I ORDERED RESIN BODYS AND OLD SCHOOL DECALS FROM A DEALER IN DOTHAN GA.I DONT KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS OR NOT,SOLD MOST OF THEM.I DID A 1/16 SCALE HARDEES CAR AND BUILT A COOL CASE FOR IT AND STILL HAVE IT.THIS PIC IS 1/24TH SCALE.I QUIT WHEN I GOT TOO OLD TO SEE GOOD,THE PINTO WAS HARD BUT FUN.I MADE THE MISTAKE OF PAINTING BEFORE TEST FITTING AND HAD TO GO BACK TO WALMART AND BUY ANOTHER ONE,THEY HAD ONE LEFT.I WAS REAL PARTICULAR WITH THE GLUE ON IT.

It's evident from those photos that you have definitely got some building skills!
