this is a popular option for these old cars.

a modern 4 banger & trans is a much nicer running old "A".

if the car isn't a show ready or period correct car, but rather an occasional driver, this swap can put the owner many $$$$ ahead in maintenance costs as well as add peace of mind in case mechanical issues crop up in the future.

i do wonder what kind of 'frame' from under the Pinto that he is going to keep.
the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!

What I was going to say as well. Any 'frame' under there is worthless since made to be part of the whole unibody box including roof. Frame cut out of bottom alone will be so flimsy as to be next to worthless.

'Course he could be a real stepper, nothing is impossible to an able welder with a good working brain.

Since he is doing a Model A why doesn't he look into a 1980 Ford Shay which is a Ford built Model A with a complete Pinto running gear from the Ford factory? There are 2 here locally and they are pretty nice.
