Engine conversion complete
« on: August 13, 2013, 12:25:19 PM »
I finally got the exhaust on my 74 wagon connected to the new engine today. It runs great and is nice n quiet.  Still have the check engine light on (yes I even wired that up!) but it is due to a couple minor things. EGR valve which has no vacuum lines run to it right now, and no VSS either. Also i believe the ignition control module is popping some codes, but its running great so I will leave it alone for now.

I will have to have a custom cable made for the speedometer probably. I think a VSS from a T5 will work in the pinto transmission, but the cable is different. And I believe a mustang cable will probably be too short.

The EGR will be no big deal. A couple vacuum lines and its done.

The ICM... well. Thats a $150 part and a couple screws holding it on. No biggie either, except for the cost. Like I said as long as its running fine, i'm not gonna worry about that.

Finally had to replace the ICM. $20 at the salvage yard  ;D ;D  But it runs great again. Hooked up the EGR tho I didnt know which was the inlet and which was the outlet on the solenoid so it might be hooked up backwards.

Check engine light is still on. Guess its because of the lack of a VSS but IDK for sure. The ECM is also mad about the power steering pressure switch missing and not having the brake on/of wire hooked up. Dont know if all of those codes will trigger the CEL or not...
