Title: eBay listing: lowest mileage pinto re-listed!

Winning bidder was a no-show. Feel bad for the seller.
(On another note: our 1978 Pinto still needs a new ignition module; the mechanic who said he could help us is a no-show as well.)

There was a very low mileage Pinto that I believe had less than 1,000 (I think under 500) miles. I think it was a darker green than this car. Looked quickly but couldn't find it. What did the car close at the first time?

This car on eBay is under 5,000 miles, sone hail dent damage. It's green and very clean.
The first auction which ended last Saturday, I believe was at $12,550.

It had (about) 450 miles. He was asking 10k & no one offered that. So he decided to start driving it.

It was well worth the 10k & I was thinking hard on it. But I knew I'd be the wrong person for it , as I would have put a V8 in it. So I didn't buy it.

I also think it was a darker green ?

That was Dave Herbeck's car.  You're right, the odometer when I saw it was less than 500 miles.  Dave succumbed to brain cancer several years ago.  Super, super nice guy.  He also had an orange and white '74 Pinto named Geraldine.
Both cars were in exquisite condition when he had them.

I'd sure like to know where Geraldine is ......sigh...I'd buy her in a heartbeat 💗

Actually, Scott Hamilton, the admin, informed me a few years back that Mike Parente, Studio City, CA owns the car(s).

Dave's family enlisted Scott's help with disbursing his Pintos and Pinto-related items, but I didn't remember the name of the individual who bought the cars off the top of my head.  Thanks for the information.  Geraldine was just as gorgeous in person as in any photo anyone may have seen here.  Actually, I would have been happy to own her too.  Jade was a great, original, ridiculously low mileage example, BUT was a late model and fairly basic car... not exactly to my liking.  Still, a great catch for someone seeking such a vehicle.  Wherever they are, I hope they're being taken care of the way Dave took care of them!

This is a 2013 article that features Dave Parente, and it does mention his collection has a couple of pintos.

I enjoyed reading the Hemmings article about Dave Parente's '74 Plymouth Duster.  My aunt and uncle bought a green one brand new and drove it until 2000-2001.

Mr. Parente may have had a couple Pintos in his collection in 2013, but not Jade and Geraldine.  Dave Herbeck didn't pass away until April 2, 2016.  That said, it's still quite possible that he's the one who acquired them... I simply don't remember.

I'm pretty sure Parente owns them, since Hamilton said he got Dave's Pintos. I'm going to start watching the high end auctions, so I'm ready to spring when they eventually (perhaps) surface. Parente used to be on this site....

Here's to hoping you get your opportunity for one of those Pinto's.

I have the mentioned "Cousin Car" to the Duster. It's a 1973 Plymouth Valiant. It is a one year car with the changed front grill/hood but the older vertical tail lights that went up/over the rear quarter panel. It only has 86,000 miles, a warmed over 318 (Edlebrock intake, carb, cam) and more modern, ported swirl port heads. Suspension mods include front and rear sway bars and rare (expensive) cop car wheels with 215-60-15 tires. 2.76 gears hamper take-off acceleration but getting on a freeway at 40 MPH in 2nd gear and nailing the gas makes it fly! Handles like a go-cart too. I got the Valiant off Ebay for $1026 back in 2004.

The green pinto sedan, under 5,000 miles, just sold on eBay for $6,600. The first time on eBay auction it went over $12,000, but then someone retracted their high bid and the supposed buyer never reappeared. So it was relisted.
