cup-holders?
« on: April 09, 2014, 09:51:28 AM »
Any there any foldout cup-holders that can be retrofitted into a Pinto? Especially in the cluttered front side and where at?

Otherwise, I'm thinking about cooking up something 3D printable that can hold a 20 ounce bottle.

I feel that need as well, I need a bottle or cup holder in every car I have. I often butcher an aftermarket one of varying type to custom make it fit the car.

My wife bought me one of the 'hang over the door' types when I got my car. I have it hung at the front of the door, over the mirror adjustment knob. It will hold a 44 ounce foam cup with no issues so far, other than occasionally knocking it with a cigarette while turning or reaching to turn on the turn signals. My carpet is shot, so at this point, it's a non-issue, and it works.

I think they're like 2 bucks at O'Reilly. Something like this dude: ct=N0320&pt=N0320&ppt=C0326" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/CA00/91112/N0320.oap?ck=Search_N0320_1135112_922&categoryRedire ct=N0320&pt=N0320&ppt=C0326

Not pretty, but functional. :)

I use this style holder in all my Pintos. Works great. It is a wedge style one that slides between the seat and tunnel. I got them at Walmart but not sure if they still have them now.

I have come to realize that I am powerless to cuteness of a rusty old Pinto.

I have the exact same one! I got it with the car, but they are on ebay for like 5 bucks :) They work great!

But a retractable would be awesome!

Could something like this work?

Is that like a 1/2 DIN item? But where to mount it?

I've seen gauges mounted in the panel above the glove box, can't see why you couldn't mount it there.
or maybe above the center "cubbie hole", where they put the heater controls on the rallye pinto.

I have seen a suction cup mounted cup holder used before.  It was originally used on the center console of a boat.  It would rotate when you accelerated and braked keeping the cup upright.  Ill try to find a pic of it.

sorta like a bike buoy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0830T32272&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-Golf+Accessories-_-9SIA0830T32272&ef_id=UuTk4AAABHzWDo5c:20140417003101:s

Dianne, I'm confident that one on ebay can be made to work.  If I wasn't so short on cash, I'd get one and do a write up on how to make it fit

I actually bought it and think it will work also :) I looked and think it can be Gerry rigged to work!

I'll let you know when I get it. Did a best offer and got it for less!
