Check out the new Stampede Logo!
« on: March 05, 2012, 06:22:12 PM »
I contracted Gary Mizar (Yup, his name is Mizar) to draw us a logo based on the cars that made the Stampede last year.  This is the creation of parts from those cars. Gary used to draw for Ed "Big Daddy" Roth.  if the name sounds familiar it should, he created the Rat Fink.  Gary used to draw the rat Fink as one of Ed Roth's contracted artists and still does under license. (don't ask, he does not own the rights to Rat Fink and we aint paying for it, this is as close as it gets) Let me know if you would like to see shirts and posters for sale?
Oh, and join the Stampede.

I think the pinto gets lost in the art. I am not sure that without the pinto written across the top, that many people would get it.

It is a cool picture... but it doesn't represent the Stampede to me.  We all don't have souped-up cars, and, well, we're not all men... ::)

I think a "herd" of Pintos of different colors and various degrees of modifications would be better, but the Stampede IS Norm and Louise's baby...  ;)
One can never have too many Pintos!

Norm:
To capture the "stampede" concept, I would personally envision a number of vehicles all running across the open plains - very much like steer - in the manner of a stampede. The background could be a large scale map of the states - with the cars in a big swarm running across the staes that they will be crossing. The cars could be Pinto examples from many years, many colors, coupes, wagons, cruisers, special interest....
I'm no artist, but if I was to capture it, that's what I would do.....
The example you show is truly artisitic, and the artist certainly talented, but the flavor of the Pinto (as well as the stampede concept) gets somewhat lost in translation. The Pinto isn't typically a monstrous, fire breathing catapult as some other classic iron might be considered.
My thoughts, FWIW.

Pop and blue, I appreciate your visions. However what you see would have cost thousands to have drawn up. Multiple cars with ornate backgrounds would have been way out of budget. I guess my tastes for a Rat Fink style Pinto didn't fit the mold for what the typical Pinto owners personality is. I appreciate the feedback, I will use the logo but will only make a select amount of shirts. I am glad I ran it here first. If I had had tons of stuff made no one wanted, that would have been bad. Thanks for the feedback it was very helpful.

Have a cowboy looking over a field of Pintos running loose, kicking up dust. Be sorta like hearding cats

I do like the picture though. Need one with a big turbo sticking out the hood, for the turbo gang.

I'll take a shirt for sure. I'm starting a new collection. 300 plus Harley shirts from all over the world.

Pinto and Ford shirts next.

I like the stampede across the map idea. It doesn't have to be complex. I guess that is easy for someone who is not an artist to say. You could have your stylized USA map just the shape, no real details . Two or three cars in the foreground that show detail and then just tiny silhouettes in the background of cars emerging from all corners of the map.
