Carb question

On the 1977 model 5200 two barrel carb , there's an outlet beside the fuel mixture needle valve, towards the firewall what hose goes on it?

I think that would be the vacuum port that goes to the intake, not positive without looking under the hood of my car and I don't have it here.

Is it bad that I have this plugged off on my 78? I haven't had any issues....
