Title: Battery tray protection?
Post by: popbumper on November 14, 2011, 04:16:46 PM: Having restored the engine compartment and installed a new battery, curious if anyone else has recommendation s for a "pad" to place in the battery tray to keep the battery from direct contact with the tray. Does anyone else do this, and if so, what material did you use? Rubber pad? Closed cell foam? Anything else? Thanks.

Post by: TIGGER on November 14, 2011, 10:47:42 PM: I would use a gel cell battery like an Optima or comparable. This will reduce the risk of damage from a leaky battery. I have had one in my 67 Mustang for years and do not miss the acid damage in my perfectly detailed engine compartment.

Post by: Pinto1600 on November 19, 2011, 09:35:13 AM: Mac's Antquie Auto in Lockport N.Y. has a small mat that goes under the battery,cut to fit. I use on both cars and the P/U. Works great!
