Title: Battery in Trunk
Post by: Fair 73 on July 05, 2016, 10:55:07 PM
Well I had been meaning to replace my current trunk battery set up with something better. I have had this on the back burner for years. Finally I got tired of my Marine battery set up that was left over from my dads boat many years ago. I had some sheet metal laying around so I thought why not try and build something. I am far from a pro sheet metal worker and welder but hey thought I would take a crack at it after all hopefully it cant be worse then what I got now. Here are some pics of how I done it.

What I need to replace looks and location bad.

Got the Metal from corner of garage taped line where to bend. This will be the back top bottom front lip(3bends).

Square up lay on side on top of metal side and weld

Make sure battery fits in the box

I then cut the angle  on both sides to get this.

Weld washer on back for attaching hold down rod and make sure it bolts together.

Repaint and bolt to floor of car in I believe to be a better location.

Install battery and clean.

Thanks to both of you I appreciate the reply. It seems to work good and opens up more room in the trunk.
