Title: are the ralley wheels steel or aluminum?
Post by: waldo786 on November 22, 2012, 07:40:06 PM
Basically I wondering the above question.  My grandfather's 76 Wagon and the new '76 Runabout I just purchased both have the ralley wheels, but just wondering if they are aluminum or steel?  Also, any major advantages or disadvantages to running aluminum vs. steel?  There's a picture attached of what they look like.

the rim you have pictured is a steel rim with an alum. beauty ring.
i think most cars had the steel rims like those or the steel with the hub caps.
thats what makes the alum. mags so hard to find and cool.
hope this helps

Second that. Those are steel. The mags (according to my '78 brochure) were available in natural finish with a black stripe and white painted with red stripe. Page 11 option L is those 'styled steel' wheels, standard with optional Cruising Wagon and Rallye package.
