Fred, I lost about 1/4 lb of skin fitting my headers and disassembling the dash today, heater core is 100% trash, somebody got hung up on the blower fan apparently pulling the motor out, bent all of that all out of whack, I got it all out straightened up and working. Same with the ashtray and glovebox, looks like a gorilla closed them over and over! As soon as I get the radiator in I can fab the brackets and tear it all back down and do some painting!

Yep, it's a 289 block .030 over with 1990 302 HO internals, had a retired machinist trick out the block for the late model 1 piece rear seal, then I got the retro roller lifters and spider, so I could use the factory e303 cam.

A guy new me built a cobra replica with a stroked 302, he did his like that to avoid his steering assembly and keep heat off the fire wall, it turned out good. I got the rotating assembly from a mechanic that traded it for some work years ago. It all looked brand new. Apparently somebody bought a 90 mustang GT and stroked it out just after bringing it home! I'm going to use the factory HO valve covers too. I already had the 50 Oz flywheel, he even had the GT 40 heads which you see in the picture. I had to buy some .030 pistons so I found some sealed power hyper flattops. I drilled the timing chain cover for a mechanical fuel pump and front sump dipstick tube. I am sorta on a strict budget and time frame. I know a lot of people don't like this idea but,, I'm going to spray it with new holland red tractor enamel. I picked up a gallon for $35. It is really close to the original red of my car. I did the underside of the hood Saturday just to see how it works, pretty easy! I thinned it a little to much but I can correct that! I'm ready to get it together and start riding!

Get a bottle of fisheye eliminator & put a capfull in the paint when you're mixing it to spray. It will save you a ton of headaches.

Yep, that's exactly what my neighbor said today too. I think when I don't he engine compartment I'll see how it does. I was in my shop heard a rumble out front where my 1980 stepside is setting with a  for sale sign in the window, a young lady about my mothers age popped out of this super fine 65 falcon 289/4 speed! My eyes bugged out of my head! She wanted to buy the old truck for her husband and all I could do was talk about her car! This picture didn't do it justice!

I laughed to myself after they left, I told them I had built the 302 in the truck a little more high performance than a stock 302. I went on give details of cam, intake, carb, ect,, then she cranked hers and popped the hood,, yikes!!! It's the original 289 HIPO with some nice, nice, add ons, mine looked like a weed eater motor after that, I didn't bring up engines again!

That's great! Thanks for your help Fred. I'm hoping between you and Brian in Oklahoma I can piece mine back together. Finally closed the deal on my truck that was for sale so, after we sign over title and receive greenbacks Friday I can get the pinto project moving forward.
