Well, the Pinto still gets bad press - love mine though! 8)
Ford Motor executives announced today that the company will be relaunching it's most popular bomb on wheels for model year 2015!
Like the popular retro Mustang that was introduced in 2006, the new Pinto will look much the same as it's 1970's counterpart except for the explosive rear end gas tank which was standard equipment of the first generation Pinto.
"I'm so excited I could just kiss somebody" stated a Ford represenative at the impromptu press conference held at the small, but cutting edge, Pinto plant in Gary Indiana. "The new Pinto will be faster, stronger, safer and the perfect get around town car for the single welfare Mom to the Community College student" a proud Ford executive beemed as he looked at the bright orange and white Pinto concept car which has been under tight wraps since its early days of redevelopment in late 2011.
New options for the Pinto include, Heater, A/C, single disc CD, Aux hookup, rich Bulgarian vinyl seats and doors and an automatic remote hatchback lid release!
The new Pinto's will be on showroom floors in early 2015! so buy your life insurance now and see your neighborhood Ford Dealer next January!

And another that it was supposed to be released in 2014.

In a surprise bit of news from the Blue Oval, we’ve just learned that Ford will bring back its much-beloved classic, the Pinto, as an all-new model. And it will be coming to dealerships in just a few months. All set to be revealed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show and go on sale to Chinese buyers immediately with a U.S. release in Spring 2014, the Pinto will be an exciting addition to a Ford small car lineup that also includes the 2014 Ford Focus and updated Ford Fiesta.
Think of the new Pinto as a sportier small choice, along the lines of a more compact Mustang. We’ve confirmed a few classic Pinto features that will reappear: the rear-wheel drive, tiny little Pinto will be available in sedan, hatch and wagon forms.
Power will come from a single-barrel-carbureted 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 75 horsepower, the first non-fuel-injected gas engine Ford has offered in some time. Fuel efficiency should approach 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, Ford says. An up-level supercharged EcoBoost carbureted four-cylinder will raise power output to an even 100, while fuel efficiency will remain at 14 city/19 highway.
The new 2014 car will keep retro Pinto styling intact. (1977 model shown)
Just like the classic Pinto, the gas tank will be located beneath the trunk, just in front of the rear bumper, for better weight distribution. Ford promises modern safety thanks to a lightweight piece of carbon fiber shielding the passenger compartment from any fire damage should a rear-end collision and explosion occur, but the NHTSA has issued a preemptive mandatory recall, promising that legal action will be taken if a single Pinto reaches customer hands without a complete redesign of the fuel delivery system.
Like in the 1970s, when the Pinto was the ultimate status symbol of youth and ‘cool’, Ford hopes the Pinto will inject new life to its showrooms. Pricing will start at around $19,999 when the Pinto goes on sale on April 1, 2014.

The funny part are the specs. 1.6L 75 HP with the poor mileage.

HA! That is a blast from the past...
The funny thing is that some Ford Engineers saw Norm's 2015 'Pinto' on Ford's Proving Grounds at the Ford Employee car show and was overheard saying that "Why was he not aware of this project?" Too Much Fun!!

Was having trouble with internet and did not catch your post till I already hit post reply.it was a Taurus after all.that model Taurus looks like an slightly bigger Contour ,which would have been a better fit.as long as there is Focus/Fiesta or(Escort/Festiva) I do not see a Pinto badged car.

Hey Jonz-
Glad to finally know who created this, and to know you have been here for many years. I bet you were here before we had a forum and it was just static web pages.
Always loved this photo shopped 'Pinto' - it made us all dream back then...

:D I remember when it was different sites that had links to each other website.even the birth of a common site and the choosing of the club logo.I also remember seeing pintosophers' pinto poems, love his literary genius.know his car trek creation. I would like him to come up with a parody of don't take the girl but be don't take that car(pinto).I like the variety of skills and talents that make this a great club.isn't it funny how diehard Chevy truck guys like the pinto and no other ford?

It looks like a rebadged Fiesta to me. :(
