2014 Calendar
« on: July 27, 2013, 09:05:02 PM »
Hey everyone,

I know it is kind of early to be talking about a calendar, but I wanted to start a thread just to remind you all to take some cool  pics of your cars this summer. Make sure you take them in the highest setting for size your camera has. It comes out better the bigger they are. If you don't know how to set your camera to it's highest setting, they have online user manuals for most of them now. :D LOL

Ok, get to taking pics. I will ask for them this winter! :D

I'll post something in November. I'm going to be doing the main scanner job at my work for the next 2 weeks so I won't have time to go through emails and such. Would be easier for me to just wait till I can go back to my normal schedule after the first of Nov.

Ok everyone,

I am planning on taking a vacation next week and will try to start working on the calendar then.

You can send your picture to myhrdly@gmail.com   Try to make it the biggest picture your camera will take and send it as big of file as you can send. They come out better once put on the calendar. That and I can just add them to the calendar and not have to do any size increases to get them to fit the page. It is easier to shrink a photo and have it come out looking good, then to increase the size. You can look at this years calendar and see what I mean. Some of the pics I had to increase and even with that it didn't fit the page.

Thanks,
Kim

Oh, and I will be doing like I did last year, just a pic no info. Makes it a lot easier for me to do them that way. :D

Got them but the pics are pretty small. They are only 210K and they would be better if they were in the 2000K or bigger size. If you don't have anything that big I will most likely put all 3 on one month to help fill in the space.

Yes, pics of your own cars. That can include other Pintos that may be in the same pic, like at a show.

Email pics (BIG pics) to myhrdly@gmail.com  Big pics as far as size, like 2000K or bigger. They work better on paper.

Sorry everyone, but there has been a slight delay on me making the calendar. I ended up rescuing a 1-2 year old Doxie when I was on vacation (the time I planned on doing the calendar), and it has been hectic ever since. LOL This little guy doesn't stop. Constantly wanting to play with me or the others, which in turn makes it near impossible for me to play on the computer. I even had to switch back to my mouse instead of using my track pad. They kept hitting the pad and sending me to web pages of all kinds. LOL

I hope things will settle down soon and I can get to making the calendar. I will definitely try to get it done before Jan. though.

Ok, I just spent an hour and a half putting the calendar together. Then tried to move it over to the for sale section. I couldn't  do it. Then I recalled having this problem last year. Cafe press has made it really hard to design things now. When I design it in the spot to make it for sale, the pics are to small to see. That is why I wanted BIG pics. Most the pics everyone sent are only 400x400. They need to be 3200x3200. That is a huge difference.   So needless to say, it is back to square one. I really don't even want to try to do it on Cafepress now. To much of a pain. I will have to go to my photo editing software and enlarge everyones photos. This take a ton of time.

I am going to try to make the calendar on zazzle. Only bad thing it is more expensive and there isn't a choice for charter members and all.

For now, I'm pretty frustrated and will probably try it another day.

Ok, I decided to try something and it worked. I had to resize all the photos to 2000x????? (the software automatically puts in the other size). So there is no garantee on how it will look in print. The pics may be blurry.  So buyer beware.

Here is a link to the calendar.
http://www.cafepress.com/fordpinto.1208949895

Charter members can go to the chartermember area of the site and buy it there for a discount.

Oh, and I used the pics I had, some people got more then others and I also included a Maverick. It was cool and I didn't have enough Pintos. :D

I wondered about that. I tried to make a Bus calendar shortly after finishing the pinto one and they (cafe press) flagged everyone of my photos, which are mine and other club members buses. I emailed them about it but haven't heard back. I was guessing because of the VW emblem on the buses, they (cafe press) are not allowing them. I wonder if this is the same thing going on with the Pinto calendar?

Scott, because you are the owner of the cafe press store, can you investigate this further? Again, so far i haven't heard back from them yet on my bus issue.

I am making a bus one on Zazzle, So far I haven't had any issues. I'm not done with it and I haven't offered it for sale yet, but when I do, I will let you all know what happens.

Funny, how many years have we made calendars on cafe press? Now all of a sudden we can't use pics because of a ford or pinto or vw emblem?? This really pisses me off because of the fact that these vehicles no longer belong to ford or VW they belong to us. We should be able to use pictures of our cars in the way we want.

Oh, they even flagged pictures that no VW emblem is seen. Just a view of the bus itself.

Just went and checked the cafepess area where I can see all designs. So far they have only "pended" (their word for flagged) one of the photos. It is of the Black Pinto with the hood scoop. Funny thing is, there are 3 others I accidentally uploaded right beside it that are not "pended". LOL They also marked our calendar as "pending". Another funny thing, the 2013 calendar is sitting right next to it and it is fine. LOL

One more, I just noticed they (cafepres) have "pended" several other things that have been for sale for a long time. Looks like cafe press may be out for designing our own things to sell. Maybe we will have to all right them giving them our permission to use our car in the calendar. LOL
