Greetings Pinto-Kids....

Getting ready to pull a (front!) bucket seat in my 1980 Bobcat glassback tomorrow (have to remove the seat-back thereafter for sew-up work at a trim shop..).  Question for you all:

So four studs, at each corner of the seat frame, and then there are nuts underneath car (that fortunately are all broke loose!) to undo.  OK, so that part should be easy, but do any of you boys know WHAT THE PLASTIC "CUP"-SHAPED PIECE SURROUNDING THE SQUARE-HEADED END OF THE MOUNTING STUD IS?!?  I feel like this thing is going to get in the way in lifting the damn seat out easily...  (there's one cupped around the rear stud as well -- both INBOARD side, by the trans hump; the outboard side doesn't have 'em)

Might be obvious once I get the four nuts off and lift, but I feel like there's potential for annoyance here.  What the f_ function does that plastic piece serve.....  And can it be easily removed, or...?

So long as the seat comes out, looks like the back is easily removed via 2 screws..

it is a trim piece/carpet protector. it is not held in by anything but the seat frame. it will just slip out once the seat is removed.
