Wiring harness question
« on: August 02, 2017, 03:17:54 PM »
Hey guys,

When I had the interior taken apart in my 1980 Runabout I came across a section of wires that was cut. Both at the kick panel, and at the interior panel beside the passenger rear seat.

It's a bunch of four wires. Light green, yellow, brown, and white.
I checked my 1980 EVTM Pinto book but couldn't find what they were. Anyone know?

Since the brake & tail lights run down the driver side of every Pinto I've worked on, I would think the wires went to speakers in the package tray. I checked my EVTM book too. BUT the wires sound like Ford items????

That's what's confusing especially since there is no package tray being a runabout and no sign of rear speakers

Does it have a trailer hitch? Could be the po pulled a small trailer.

I don't know if it ever did or not. There isn't currently but not to say there may not have been one at some time in the car's life

Tell you what... I found a picture of a 4 wire bonded harness with the same colors in the same order. Looks like it was possibly trailer wiring of some sort.

Look under the license plate for a 7/16 or 1/2 hole in the bumper. All of the trailer hitch's I've seen bolt to the sub frame and to the bumper just behind the plate.
