Hey guys,
A quick summary for those that don't know what happened. Bought my 1980 Runabout in June 2012. Had a ruptured accelerator pump leak gas. Fixed it & when I tried to start it a fire started due to gas leaking all over the distributor and ignition coil lead popping off. Still don't know how it popped off. On top of gas the engine was also covered in oil which fueled the fire. Got it put out and saw the vacuum lines and wiring to be burnt to a crisp. Pulled the head & found more engine issues to call for a rebuild.
I'm now doing an engine swap using the engine from my 77 parts car, and need to fix the wiring. Alpine615 donated a harness to the car & while it was for a 1980 auto non-a/c car I am having some issues with a few plugs on the driver side. I was able to swap most of the existing harness with parts of the other but there are a couple spots that I can't get to match up. I also have a perfectly good 1977 Pinto to compare to but there seem to be wiring differences in the two. I even looked at a scrap harness from an old 1978 I had & can't get it to match up either.
I can't match wire colors because the wiring was burned in the fire. In this case the wiring diagram I have does not help since the wiring is missing, aside from a few burned, melted connectors.
What I need, and it would be a big help, are some images of the wiring harness along the driver side of the car, going to the distributor, alternator, choke, and any sensors on the driver side of the engine compartment for a 1980 Pinto
If I have the images my thinking is I can piece this thing back together. The engine swap will be the easy part in the repair and I've already rebuilt the entire fuel system. The missing piece is the vacuum system which just involves replacing bad vacuum lines, and the bad wiring. I appreciate any and all assistance.
