Here is a thread I started on the fitment of Pinto windshields:
http://www.fordpinto.com/pinto-faq/windshield-swaps-what-will-fit/msg94944/#msg94944For cars produced BEFORE 06/78 (June of 1978), you will be using a gasket type windshield.
For cars produced AFTER 06/78, you will be using the larger windshield which is held in place by sealant.
Sometime in June of 1978 they changed the way the windshield was secured in the car and they began gluing them into place.
When using a glue-in windshield, you will have or need the frame trim that goes around the sides and top of the inside window frame. You can get any color one you like, and you can paint it the color of your interior using SEM Color Coat, which you can obtain from any auto paint shop. This interior frame trim covers the gap between the windshield and the frame that the gasket originally would fill. I believe there is a piece that goes along the bottom of the windshield and the dash, but I have not verified that yet.
I have gasket windshields on both my 73 and my 78 (built in april of 1978), but I have an interior trim piece on hand should I need to get a glue-in windshield, since the earlier ones are getting so hard to find.
Short answer to the question, yes it will fit, and yes you can use your original exterior trim, but from the inside you will be staring at the bare frame unless you get the trim that goes around it.
