I like this manifold b/c the carburater mounts on the side making tuning a breeze
I need one that could run antifreeze though
-
It should be this one. I have one & it only fits D-port iron heads as-is.

theres no may to hook coolant up to this one.

found one more, its the top one with the 350cfm holley, the guy in the vid looks like he has the same one with the choke removed.

Hey, Clydesdale80 thanks for the pics. Is that an edelbrock air cleaner it looks the same as mine.
Also on esslinger intakes do they only make D-port ones because I need an ovaul port one and would be nice if it could run antifreeze though it so I could drive it in the winter
Also what power valve do you got in that holley 350
Thanks alot
-
It can be opened up for oval ports but it's not heated.
-
this carburetor and intake were on this car when i bought it last spring. the previous owner was building it for some kind of racing until his mechanic died. this stuff and a header had been installed on the car but he said the engine had not been run since. He showed me the catalog that he ordered it all from but nothing had been tuned. I think it must have the power valve that it came with stock but I dont know. the car is currently down to the bare body for a rebuild so I havent got to carb tuning quite yet. I believe my intake is oval port and yes that is and edelbrock aircleaner.

Actually that intake will fit ovals as it is. The only head it wont fit is the round port head.
-
you could bolt that intake to a round hole head it just would not flow was well as a oval head. plus if you look at most of the intake gasket kits out there they have only a oval gasket. good luck.

Pause the video at frame / timestamp 1:09 and you can clearly see it says ESSLIN on the front runner.
-
The D-port intake on an oval port head is the best flowing set-up due to the "waterfall" effect of the fuel dropping off the intake into the head. Ran that set-up on my mini-stock. The oval port gaskets work fine. The Holley carb will freeze without water flowing thru it though. Ran a 350 on my 2.0 with an Offy intake and it froze at 40* and below.

I just helped dyno a 2.3L with the Esslinger alum head and this intake.... stay far away from this intake far, far way..... the two center cylinders (2 and 3) ran 3-4 point higher A/F ration than 1 and 4.... could not cure it to save our lives even with a 2" carb spacer... ended up changing the intake and making 40hp...
-
So what intake did you go with?
We have used a FI 4 square lower knifedged with a
2 or 4 bbl 1 in. spacer tigged to it.
I would think 2-3 would be fat and 1-4 lean,
not the way you said it was. What carb was on the intake
for the dyno session?
-
Racer, this was for a rouny round car, and we ended up having a local guy make a intake, for the life of us we could not make the Esslinger intake work, we tried a Holley 350, and 500 cfm 2V carbs, we made an adaptor plate so we could slide the carb front to back and side to side, we even made a plate to set the carb sideways, nothing worked, it has to be something with the high Pulse's these little engine have...
as soon as the other intake was installed, the problem went away....
-
Yes on the 4 cyl del.
We tried to run a 350 Holley on a 1.6
Fiesta AutoX car and at idle you could see
it actually pull fuel from the vent tube and
the squirter.
Called Holley and they said, nope the omly way
it will work is go to a 500 and then it still might
have the same problem.
The same carb on a 2.3 was flawless.
You might try the intake setup I mentioned
above,it works real good(read that as + hp and + torque)
over anything else we tried.
