Title: Which rear leaf spring rate for a V8?
Post by: gearhead440 on November 03, 2011, 07:14:45 AM
My 1980 Pinto needs new leaf springs.  I'm swapping in a 302 and T5 with a 9" rear and was wondering which leaf spring rate to choose.  Speedwaymotors .com lists 3 spring rates:  100#, 125# and 150#.

The vehicle will be a daily driver and will use a front sway bar, either stock or 1" diameter depending on oil pan clearance.

Thanks.

After much searching, I've decided to go with 100# on driver's side and 125# on passenger's side especially considering the battery will be trunk mounted.

go for a matched pair.  it makes replacement easier in the future.  also, as for the 125# for the passenger side & the 100# for the drivers side;  does the battery weigh more than you do?
