Wheel backspacing
« on: September 01, 2016, 05:32:31 PM »
Hi, I would like to find a nice wheel and tire for my 74 runabout.  I looked at Jeg's and found a 15" x 7" wheel, P/N 555-66010, with 4.75" of back spacing, and i need to know if this wheel will work.  Also what is the wheel stud size? 7/16" or 1/2"?  Any comments are welcome.

4 inch or less will clear on the front of a Pinto. The rear will take up to 4 1/2 to 5 inch before hitting the springs with the tires. Studs are 1/2-20 SAE.

A 3"-31/2" back space is a perfect fit with both clearance and the all necessary look. This back space will work on both stock height and lowered Pintos. No spacers are needed too. This back space is hard to find because of FWD cars that are now produced. Easy to find in stock / mini stock circle track wheels. Or make your own. This back space is for a 7" wide wheel.
